I think that the teams from the non-Super rugby bases always have an uphill
battle with limited resources. Given that injury has meant plenty of third
choice players starting this year for Bay of Plenty, they'd have to be happy
with 6th place.
Nothing wrong with Nutbrown and Noakes, they're just back from long-term injury
themselves, but they do struggle behind an underpowered scrum. Having said,
good to see a couple of 20 year olds get a chance in the front row.
Lethal performance alright - Canterbury do look the goods. The Bay struggle
away to Canterbury at the best of times so I'd say another five points in the
Canterbury Bank.
The failure to beat Taranaki is the only real blot on their season (so far).
That and the loss to Tasman show that real mental toughness is still not quite
there
Looks like I spoke a little too soon. HB have another two games this week to
collect the necessary points to stay up. Then, if it comes to that the Bay have
to do their worst in the last game of the regular season...
Just when I was getting comfortable with the idea of Bay of Plenty playing in
the second tier, Hawkes Bay do them a massive favour. It's rapidly becoming a
competition between the two least deserving sides of who will stay up. Manuwatu
played good rugby though and were worthy winners
Agree completely Judea: Toby Arnold was really missed at the back, and Burke was
also a huge loss. The whole 8,9,10 dynamic from last year was lost and it really
showed in the backline

The Bay have been awful in this first half. Not even close to their performance last Sunday. 2nd Division beckons...
